Need Tips for Turbulator

Inlägg av Gäst »

Hi my scandinavian friends 8) ,

I am planning to make 2 turbulators for min panna.
Bild Bild

The 2 horizontal heatexchangers are each 70cm long. The diameter is approx. 15cm .
It is a 8 segment cast iron boiler. Fluegas temp 150-190°C. I want to lower it to 130°C

Which turbulator-shape do you suggest?
and: Which material should it be made of?

Tack pa förhand,
Thomas

You can use normal sheet metal. Cut it in a stripe which corresponds to the width of the tube, then heat it up and twist the stripe.
Or you could bend it zick-zack.
Normal iron sheetmetal of 1mm is ok since it is not subjected to high temperatures, it´s not in the fire.

Kind Regards

Hi,
you can use normal chains, one or more, that you can hang down the tube.
Best regards

I would have taken sheetmetal, cut a suitble strip and twisted it as much as possible without making it "wobbly" (use "mild" force if nessecary). I understand it that your are having a vertical tube and thus it could be hard to "hang" anything there.

Yes - correct, i have vertical tubes..

I found patrick´s page again. There are some pics at the bottom.

Twisting would be the best for my kind of tubes, i guess.....

I´ll try that...

You can listen to Chubby Checker during the work: "Let's twist again like we did last summer..." ;-)

Here is 5 handy tips for you:

1. Modify ( for the handy guy 1)
Cut each one of the turbulators approx. 100 mm and weld them together so you get one or two new turbulators.
That´s if you don´t have all of the turbulators installed.
It might do the trick!

2. Self service (For the Handy guy 2)
Do you have a scrap dealer near you?
Try to search for materials there to make your own turbulators, you might get lucky to find some spirals in the right dimension to make your own tubulators.

3. Prev. tips (for the handy guy 3)
Try one of the other tips above (chain or zig -zack model).
IF you use chain: weld the links so you get the chain stiff!
You might have to cut it to get the right flow and temp (both chain and zig- zack).

4. The Easy way (If you whant to stay sleeping on the coutch)
Try to contact the manufacturer of your (boiler) panna and order the tubulators direct from him.

5. Forget it
Listen to Rolling stones

Good luck

Tack for the Tips.

To Point 5: I don´t wanna listen to seniors who are climbing on trees like a monkey
See 4yourself - more monkey or more human ?

Point 4: They say, it was never available for these pannas :(

But: Zig-Zag will do it..although the welded chain is also a good idea!

Or shall my panna end up like this:
